As the heretic anarcho-punk spirit of the title of G_D's Pee at State's End suggests! , GY! BE delivers raw power through two fascinating long 20-minute tracks of large-format noisy post-rock. A relentless breath bursts into a multitude of sounds, while some of the most fiery and burning melodies in the formation ricose and converge amidst violin and double bass counterpoints. Field recordings and tumultuous semi-improvised passages frame these fervent epics. Two shorter and independent pieces of 6 minutes reveal a devastating, mesmerizing, elegiac beauty. Pointing atmospheres, noisy orchestrations, drone, hypnotic crescendos, superimposed layers of distorted sounds: the album encapsulates all the beloved facets of the band. Twenty-five years later, this new album is as vital, moving, relevant and relentless as it was on the first day. G_D's Pee at State's End! was recorded and mixed in Montreal in October 2020 at the group's reference studio, Thee Mighty Hotel2Tango, by Jace Lasek, the award-winning veteran independent producer (and co-founder of The Besnard Lakes) who works for the first time with Godspeed.
